SLC Amazing Race 2006

My team participated in this event and we called ourselves “Avalon” The team consists of Louis (Team captain), Xue Li, Joo Tze, Nisha, Rui Yan and I. JT and I showed the true Singaporean Kiasu Syndrome. We had an extra shirt to compliment the ones already given! Also, we took extra bread for “ammunition” for the stomach. Evil.

The first clue given was to go to Kembangan! A perfect 22 stops away! After that, we went to Toa Payoh and got lost. We did a lot of running there and got scolded by a bank staff! We didn’t know that we were running in a bank! It felt funny! I’m sorry Mr. Bank Officer!

The next stop was my favorite stop. We had to go to “Bedok MRT station”. That place is my home ground! I showed the team around the place; especially Louis. I showed him where I stayed. I think I got a bit excited as I made him run fast with me! Sorry Louis!

The event made us run a lot! We took the MRT to get to all of our destinations. Amazingly, in every train that we were in, we sat on the floor and slept like logs! It was our own makeshift pit stop! It was a place to rejuvenate ourselves. We found the best place to sit; the ends of the train.

In one of the train rides, I was told by my teammates that some “Ah Beng” gang wanted to take a picture of me! I’m famous! Yes! Take a picture of me! Well, not really! I was seated on the floor sleeping peacefully. However, the sleeping position I was in must have caught their attention! I slept awkwardly I guess. Haha.

Well that’s the highlight of the event! Now, Let’s see where the team went!

RP --> Woodlands --> Kembangan --> Toa Payoh --> Bedok --> Yishun --> Chinatown --> Dhoby Ghaut

We finished the game at 4.30pm and waited for our dinner while the SLC members tabulate the scores. Results were out around 7pm. Out of the 35 teams that participated, we got the 7th position! That means we won a prize! It was a morale booster for the team! Our efforts did not go to waste! Go Avalon!

At long last! Republic Polytechnic’s annual Ultimate Challenge has come once again! Representatives from W25J has trained "hard" for this event. We "strategize" on how to win; especially again those big men with muscles that makes their shirts looks tiny.

The first thing that we had to do was jump into the swimming pool and get wet! wee~ It was fun. yes! It's freezing cold! brr~. Other than that, the team participated in various events such as judo, aikido, bowling, foosball. archery, badminton and many more! If i'm not wrong, my team collected the 2nd highest point for........ NETBALL!! woot~

After the event, the tired and hungry friends ventured out to KFC to gain the "fats" back that we have lost. Left the place at around 10.45pm and reached home at about 11.50pm. No regrets being in the challenge. GO W25J! wooot!

Some X-synthes!s members were invited to our advisors wedding vows (is that what you call?) at a Church in Kovan. A pretty quiet place with nice surroundings. I met up with Audrey in Kovan MRT station to get to the place together.

George , James, Audrey, Carinn, Zaki and I were there in the Church to witness the event. It was a first for me. It was an eye opener for me. The event started with some singing and prayers and ended with vows from the newlyweds.

We then had a small reception. The girls took some pictures for momento and the guys "squeeze" in to join. After that, we went to Vivo City as I had never been there before. A huge place with an outdoor place for us to chill.

2. The boys...
3. Carinn.. with the boys
4. Audrey with the boys
5. Outside Vivo City

P8 Rose is not a rose - Culture module

Yes it's true that rose is not a rose; in a way. Literature gives the writer a way to express his anguish, despair, anger and others too. What other ways are better other than Symbols! Symbols give the writer more freedom of expression without being constricted. It helps to describe their feelings through this mean.

Let me share with you a poem that my team found in the internet that expresses feeling of "Friendship"

Shooting star by Rose

You are a shooting star in the midnight sky
The glimmer of the whole sky, but only for a moment

You dream, you think, you wait for the right time, then you,
A single star, go into the night sky for the world to see

As you travel across the sky, you leave the hint of your presence behind
You are the shooting star in the eyes of the world

A funnier piece...

Pee by unknown (got it from www.deviantart.com)

Friendship is like peeing in your pants
Everyone else can see it
But you're the only one
That can feel the truth

Pulled to the DOTA world

Sebastian gave the me the disc to install the Warcraft game. I was hesitant at first. If I play, I will surely get caught in the gaming world.

Well, the game "seduce" me. I ended up installing the game and learning how to play. Not bad for a noob like me. I can play the game quite well and I notice that when i play it, i'm very noisy. Alot of shouting in the game. lolx.

PBL symposium 2007

All the SWC (Student Working Committee) got together in a CED meeting room to get information on RP's biggest event of it's history. We were highlighted of the components of the committee prior to the event.

Khairul (X-synthes!s member) and I are responsible for the Registration of the participants. We have to register their accounts and learn a new sofware or something like that from our faci-in-charge.

Yeah, in the meeting I also met the person I thought I would never see in the room. She was NISHA! I think she's in the Red Cross IG. Go Nisha go! go Nisha go!

what the hell is supply chain management?

A simple concept that I derive for myself has easen my understanding of this topic. This is ontop of every "wordy" text definitions and thick books that I got from the library. It seems that I can't really apply what the books say to the problem statement for the day. Hmm.. I wonder why.

So my concept is...

"Demand meets supplier, consumer high demand means high supplier and vice versa.

There wil be a problem comes out when small parts of the chain thinks the demand always goes "UP" when in actually fact it's actually backlog; inventory items that are not yet successfully given to the consumers. This means;

New demand + Old demand (backlog) = Total order a company needs to comply with

Then comes Domino Effect and worst Bullwhip Effect.

Other than that, I can't wait for this coming Friday and Saturday! why!?

Friday - RP ultimate challenge 2006

- Louis, Aidi, Wang Zhao and JT

Saturday - My dad's and 1st brother birthday

math module and course briefing

Since the start of the new semester, I rarely missed math module. Day by day, I've started to dislike science module. This was a complete reverse from semester 1. I thought I liked science lessons very much. I think I'm going to suffer next semester.

Push that topic aside; and today's topic is on exponential curve. Getting the answer is damn freaking easy. However, going through the process is tedious sh**. For example"You take a calculator, press the 2nd function andpress the button ex and key in a number that you like and.... wallah! you get the answer."

That easy.

Also in the day, I went for a course briefing for DBA. Of all who attended the briefing, I was the only one from SAS and the programme chair gave alot of attention at me. It will be big leap for me. A science student to a IT/business student.

will my course transfer be accepted? yes? no?

we'll see in the next coming weeks.

With that, I pray to god to lead me to the correct path. This will be my biggest decision in my life and I don't want to make a regretful decision.

Advisors Party
A small party was held in the Club room to celebrate the upcoming wedding of our 2 advisors. (Wedding different partners; their not together :) James and the others ordered buffet food to supplement our hungry stomach.

Audrey gave them presents bought by the club. The members had fun chatting, giggling and the best of all; talking crap.

I wish the 2 X-synthes!s advisors happy up-coming wedding!

Saturday 10/11/2006
Hari Raya with ex 4i classmates
It's been a long time since the clique members went out. This hari raya event gave us the perfect opportunity to mix and mingle after going our separate ways. The numbers for the day was quite low, due to some classmates unable to attend having other things to do.

Well that's a small thing. We went to 10 houses in one day! Inclusive of our dearest english teacher; Mdm Hamidah. Syahiid has grown alot. He's no pushover now; but he's still crap. :)

The sun shiny day wasn't on our side. It rained heavily for the whole day! Unluckily for the girls, their hair got all messed up due to it. Nevertherless, it provided us with cool and windy day. It helps us to cool down. lolx.

I reached home at about 11pm. I had fun with them and I hope this outing won't be the last.

My UT grade is Unbelievable

My UT (understanding Test) grade sucks. I can’t believe it. I need to bang my head against the wall. I have no A grade for the 1st week of UT. My 2nd semester’s UT grade is worst than my 1st semester.

semester. Hmm, must be that i'm growing to be lazier everyday. Maybe it's the FM 07 game that i'm playing (the circle-circle thing that moves in the game)

I had Basic Science module today and it was zzZZZ. I learnt tiny weenie bits only. Actually the problem statement is easy. The problem statement for today is "fractional distillation" and it's "O" level stuff. I just need to recall. But no. FM o7 rules! :)

Well, i'll be outz now. See you peeps around soon! No worries I will upload the pics later.

At last! something new! woot~

I have realised that my blog is rotting day by day. There's no daily updates. The post that i made had a gap of at least 2 weeks from each other. Well actually, it's a month. Believe it, it's true. Just have a look at my printscreen shot below;

There you have it. A blog that seems unwanted. Classmates has been tagging me to update my blog. I was reluctant at FIRST because I hate to check my spelling mistakes.

BUT NOT FOR LONG!! Aidi Amos (the ever so popular name) has revamped his blogskin! woot~

Now, I'll try my best to update with stories, reflection of my school day, doubts and many more!
Also, I have linked quite a few people here and I thanked them for tagging me! yahuu!

I have a few pictures here so let's take a look at it!

Other than that,

don't know what to write...

It's been a long time since i've blog. A reason being that I'm lazy to blog. Also, I don't have any story to tell nor to brag.

School life has been interesting. Lot's of crack laughter and me trying to grow up. I notice that I can't grow up. Same old me. I can't be cool. The moment i try to, I feel weird. Cause it's not ME.
