trans-gender errr no! trans-animal !!

What the hell am I talking about? You see, A friend of mine send me an email that was an "eye opener". In this world where there is a debate on transexual and stuff, what about animals?

These few pics that I'm gonna share with you may disgust or make you laugh until you puke blood. This involves some animals that you've seen before as a child.

looking at them, it makes me think why god made us in such a way we are now HUMAN BEINGS. There's 1 head, 2 eyes, 1 nose, 1 mouth and etc. There must be a reason. I can still remember my physics teacher who shared with the class; "God does not make ANY mistake when we are created. Be it that you are born normal or special, there are hurdles for you to tackle. No difference.

It also applies to those who feel they are neither here nor there. Get it? yes? no? haiya..

well... here are the pics........ enjoy looking at it......

dog-bird?

croc-duck??

croc-lizard??

4-Intelligent meets up for BBQ!!

We had a BaBiQueue (BBQ) held at Pasir Ris Park. It was great to meet my old friends and see how they are doing. I missed all my "kakis" and clicks. All of them have changed! I didn't though.. hehe

I admit I've been to Pasir Ris Park countless time. However, I still couldn't find my way to find the pit! I alighted at the wrong bus stop and I had to walk about 400m to reach the place. pss.. It was a walk from one end of the beach park to the other...

I met Takir, Syahiid, Welin, Eugene, Siva and many more! Derek had a long and dyed hair! goodness! the "goody" boy of the class has turned bad. Haha... it was a mini shock to me. We met as if we have never meet for decades! We hugged each other! haha... We felt gay... you know as in the expression for happy? Yes? No? ok never mind.. Haha…

What food for BBQ if not for half cooked or not cooked at all chicken wing? I ate it as if there was none for me! I was greedy shit. I grabbed hold of what my hands canhold. Each chicken wing was cooked for about 3 mins and ends in my stomach. I didn't even care whether it was cook. Damn, surely I will have a solid rock shit in my anus. Constipation here I come!

We chatted and took some pictures. Talking crap was fun as we “togok” soft drinks. pss…get it? togok? The country from Togo? Yes? No? Ok never mind…

We looked at the seas as we remind ourselves of the fun and struggles we had as a class. The concentration when studying and the vulgarities that we hurled at each other. Wah… the vulgarities was the best.. We had a great laugh.

Returned home with Zul, Mariam and Katt. I reached home at about 11pm. My class sickness was cured. I didn’t meet some classmates though. Darren, Cerlyn, Kaiwen and some others didn’t come. I want to meet you guys! How are ya people? Do you all miss aidi? i know you do!! haha...

MaTh iN sCiEnCe

I had science module today. I call today's lesson "rojak science feat math." I had to join a new team as 2 of my teammates "backstab" Yasmin and I. They are absent from school! I joined the "all straight males club" right in the center of the class.

Solving today's problem needs the use of microsoft excel. My burden was shared with George who knew how to use excel well. We exchanged ideas, yeah you know.. the usual everyday thing. The "exchange views, raise doubts and etc" crap.

Today's group discussion was quite funny. Glenn's answer in excel was so "swee swee." It was too nice and correct. Haha.. I can't stop giggling to this. Come say it with me! "SWEE SWEE"

My band

I have a new band and new friends. All of them are into goth and I'm the odd one out. Feel so paise. haha... They are a nice batch of people. I shall be a goth boy!! We jammed to some goth music which I listened for the first time of my happy and lively life.

I play lead and it was also some getting use to the goth music. Alot of it uses barre chords and lot's of lead shredding. I'm just used to normal rock where I'm used to power chords and no leads. Even my rythm guitarist play better than me. haha.... buck up Aidi!!

Last Sunday I went to jam with my friends at Tampines. The place was super nice. Big enough that I can roll all over the carpet. The applifier... foooh... i tell you... it's from marshall and pevey. Great amp for small fry like me? Not justifiable.... haha... The moment I strum that guitar, fooohh... i feel so syiok! it sounded so grunge and metal! (it was also because of the pedal used)

The bad thing though was that I forgot to take back my "jack" cable. Now I can't play at home. Can only use my acoustic guitar. BUttt,,, some strings putos! arrrrghhhh!!

that's all for now.......

wanted for NS.. ergh...

Yesh i know, it's been a long time since I've blog. Not to worry though.

School has reopened since yesterday and I have missed two lessons. Bloody hell... argh... I had to register for NS and the f***king system says I can't be deferred! It scared the crap out of me! I don't want to go NS now! I want to study!

I called them. The customer service personnel said that there must something wrong that I typed in. They told me to go to CMNB personally and meet the officer there. I felt reluctant but this was an important thing that needs to be settled quickly. Here goes my "adventure to CMNB"

Being an "eastern Boy", I've never been exploring Singapore much. The CMNB building is located in the western part of Singapore. In exact, Bukit Merah is the place. So I went in search of the place. I took the MRT to Redhill station and took a bus. I took the correct bus but wrong direction! I went to Holland Village instead! and that was my first time going there! It was Holland Village! I've seen the place in TV before but not in real. I felt "jakon" haha... I tell ya, there was a lot to see! The western people (Singaporean westerners), the colour coded MRT stations (Redhill MRT station was in RED) and the buses. The buses were old and noisy!

Eventually I reached the place and enquired about my deferment. This was after being lost for about an hour. The customer service assured me that there was something wrong with the system and she personally changed the documentation. The system said, "DEFERMENT: SUCCESSFUL"

Immediately after that, I felt so relieved! No botak hair for now! I can go to school without any worries! wohoo!!!!!

4th day of Journalism Workshop

The class was taught some video editing techniques and script writing skills. We were taught to write hard news and feature news. As the word "hard" suggests, it is hard to write one simple voice over (VO) in just 50 seconds!

A VO is a journalist reading from a script while a video is playing. It is hard to do this. CNA (ChannelNewsAsia) buys feeds from wire services; Reuters and AP(Associated Press) The feed is just send with lots and lots of information and the journalist have to take out which are not important.

After that, we just chatted with Suzanne and asked her more questions. We asked her what are the ethics of journalism and the techniques of asking questions.

We then had pizza sponsored by who else, Suzanne. She bought 3 large pizzas and we ate! We had so much fun interacting with each other as we felt comfortable with each other. Here are some pictures we took... enjoy !!

2nd day: Journalism Workshop

We started an hour later than usual as Suzanne was busy at work. While waiting for her, the students chat with each other. I got to know Will.I.Am, Venga, Ash, Sandra and many more. All of them had a bubbly character and it was fun interacting with them.

We started with learning to use more of active voice than passive voice. Active voice gives the "omph" factor which attract viewers attention. She taught us to reduce the usage of cliché words. For e.g. "smooth as silk, raining cats and dogs, an apple a day and etc" People will be bored listening to these words.

As I have mentioned in my previous post, journalists writes factual account and not a narrative account stories. For e.g. the hour-glass singer is..... instead the word to use is "the slim singer" Keep it direct.

There are differences between the factual contents of visual and print media. For e.g.

visual media

  • all mothers will get a baby bonus.
print media

  • 30 years old mothers will get $200 baby bonus while a 20 year old mother will get $300**

As you can see, the term "mothers" is broad based as it approached mother's of all ages. There is a limit where visual media can supply information.

We were also taught the difference between straight and feature news. Straight news such as political and business news. Feature news are not important but insightful if highlighted. For e.g. drinking beer during world cup will increase blood pressure**. Since world cup is near, this may keep supporters informed of the consequences of binging.

There are so many things that are not highlighted here. i try my best to recap what I have learn and share with others.

At the end of class, we were taught qualities and factors to be a good journalist. I shall end here now.

Journalism Workshop

Journalism Workshop

I came to class just in time at 12.30pm. I went in and my eyes was fixed to a particular person. She was distinctive in class. A person that grabbed my attention. Her command of English was superb that kept me awed. Her smile reminded me of a person that I've seen before in television. Let's not keep the suspense to myself.

She is Suzanne Jung, the news anchor of Primetime morning! I can't believe it. I'm seeing her in class for real! I always see her in the morning news and now she's in class to facilitate the workshop? This is awesome!

She introduced herself in the beginning and started talking. I noticed something about news anchors. They don't like to be in a situation where they is dead silence. When nobody seems to reply to her questions, (we were shy) she talks and talks alot. This amazed me. I've never seen a person who can talk so much and still catches my attention.

Firstly, we were introduced with the organisational structure of the industry, starting from general manager down to video editors. Our first group activity was to choose 10 most important stories of the day and put it in order for a newscast. It was great, RP PBL made me a confident speaker. I tried my best to reason out why my group chose a certain news to be put in what order of the list.

Secondly, the class was taught the basics of writing. We were taught to avoid long and mundane sentences. She taught us the "3S" It means Simple, short and sweet. Short sentences will keep the audience attentive to messages sent and that they will not lose focus.

She told us to minimise the usage of adjectives and adverbs. For example, the "beautiful girl." The word "beautiful' is subjective and does not relay a factual account. News report must be factual. A better word would be, the size 2 build girl or the 1.56m girl. This information is factual and will never go wrong.

Lastly, we sat facing her and "bombarded" her with questions about her job. She used to work in Korean English Broadcast Station named "Arirang" She came to CNA about 4 years ago. She told us that having degrees especially in Political Science have an advantage in the industry. Her works starts at 2am in the morning and may end at about 11pm in the evening. That's the 'glamour" of her work. Her work is physically and mentally challenging. We were so engrossed listening to her. I can't wait for tomorrows lesson. I shall end here for now.

Hi turtles out there! it's been a long time since i've blog. Yes, i've noticed that. However things have changed for the better. The holidays are here!!, or so it may seem.

My school's holiday is for 2 weeks and it has just started yesterday. The start of the holiday is my weekend IG for Debate. After that, I went to KFC with Luke and Wilson to eat lunch. Humm... can you imagine it? Oil and fats rich chicken for lunch? oh so yummy...

Today, practically I did nothing. More of just trying to lay on the bed and sleep! All this while I've been waking up super early. You may be wondering, what time do I always wake up? 5.30am to be precise. So this is the perfect opportunity to get some loving from my pillows and sleep!

On monday, is the start of my Journalism Workshop conducted by CNA presenter Suzanne Jung. Cool right!! I know! I can't wait for the workshop. It must be full of shiok-ness that I can't bear myself. A real news presenter is coming to school! yippee!
